Running 3 monitors from one card (not eyefinity)

I want to replace my 2 x 4890's with one card that will be able to run my 3 monitors. When gaming, I multi-box (a character running on each monitor) so don't want eyefinity.

My monitors have the Analogue connections and not much else. I'm thinking of a 7970 as a replacement.

Can I run the 3 of them from one card?

This is what I want to run from one card

Cheers for any thoughts

Only VGA?

You would have to double check that it supports all VGA inc displayports. I would imagine it would!

You would need 2 x mini-DP to VGA adapters and a DVI to VGA adapter. You may get the latter in the box. I run 3 monitors on my 5850 and do not use eyefinity.

I'll check what inputs they have tonight when I get home. I think the top one (its a dell) has DVI input as well as a VGA input, so I should get away with 2 x mini-DP to VGA adapters.

Glad to hear it can be done. :)

You (now) get mini-dp to DVI in the boxes - VGA is so last century - nothing to stop you trying DVI to VGA adaptors on top of the included ones but that might just introduce problems - but I double dp to vga exists or is cheap.

This is also a forgotten price for the difference between the cost of the ATI 6000 series and the 7970 - the 6000's didnt include the adaptors (though some editions might have done but mine didnt).

Extended Desktop is seen as 3 monitors, EyEfinity is seeing all 3 as one.

Ah right, so can 3 monitors be used for playing games or is that for like desktop activites such as photo edit and that?

Sorry I am currently learning a lot more about computing :)

You can do both as long as you have the right gfx card/cards.

Indeed.
I can run 8 on mysetup and the good thing about eve is you can tell each client what GPU core to use.

Anyway this guy with 12 accounts.
