Hi all,

I've finally got myself a 8800GT and whilst waiting for a new motherboard (totally different story) I bought a nice Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 to get rid of the heat it's likely to build up from playing Crysis.

Having never had to fit such cooling devices before I am a little hazy on the finer details of these things and was after some advice....

I've already got the Accelero S1 in my hands as well as investing in some thermal tape (as advised from the reviews of the product saying the stuff that comes with it is naff).

However, a colleague at work today mentioned that this will only cool the large graphics chip itself and that the voltage regulators will also require some form of cooling. This seems counteractive to what OCUK state in the product description:

- Supports: ATI X1950, X1900, X1800, Nvidia 7950, 7900, 7800, 6800 Series & 8800GT (Requires VRM Heatsinks)
- Special Heat Spreader for Voltage Regulator Cooling

So, my question (for anyone using the same unit or who experience in such matters) is which statement is correct? Does this sink cover the regulators cooling-wise or do I need to fit additional heatsinks? Furthermore, if they do need additional cooling, does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations as to some good products?

Many thanks in advance!

i never put anything ontop of the voltage regulators as the 120mm fan i attached to the S1 cools them fine.

Some people have put seperate heatsinks on them to increase the surface area but i've encountered zero issues with having them "naked"
