running a mail server at home

I just downloaded a trial of mdaemon to see how it works, now if I was to install it at home and access web mail remotely by opening up a port on my router, what will be the security risks, if any?

As long as your mailer daemon isn't an open relay then it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't know how mdaemon is but I've been using Mail Enable for over a year now with no probs, and it's free

I used http://www.abuse.net/relay.html to test for security.
