I have a Gigabit laptop with a GTX 907M graphics card running windows 10. The max resolution of the laptop monitor is 1080. I have an external monitor capable of 1440p and I'd like to run games it at that resolution.

I can't work out how to do this. I can get the desktop to run both monitors with the external monitor in 1440p (using the on board intel graphics) but when I start a game (using the Nvidia card) it runs on the laptop monitor.

I'm sure this is really simple. I'm not an expert.

The 970M struggles to play some games in high/ultra @1080p trying to push extra pixels from that GPU is just going to lower your fps.

However you can use nvidia control panel to choose the output device.

I'm not worried about framerate, this is a golf game and it's not very taxing. I just want the higher resolution.

Can you explain how to use the nvidia control panel to choose the output device? I can't work it out.
