Running a summer plaything cheap SL for virtually nothing

Thanks for the insult but I dont think its a daft question to ask about the appearance of a 4 door saloon in a thread about convertibles for a summers day.

Read, step by step, the "discussion" Jez and I had. He asked for my opinion and I gave it. Predictably you came along and rubbished my opinion... BORING. My personal insult is in retort to your usual OCUK dross. Try fulfilling your life with something more enjoyable Mr, "75,000 posts on OCUK motors for most of my life".

On average, you have visited these forums at least once every single day for 5 years so please stop making yourself look foolish in a vain attempt to be as insulting as possible simply because I comitted the henious crime of being suprised to find an Evo recommendation in an SL thread.

Shut up, mug.

here's another one at a more reasonable €44k

and i found an SL 73!
at a negotiable €70k and, perhaps unsurprisingly, it's in Switzerland :p

interestingly, both the 70 and the 73 have 500bhp..

yes, i'm bored :o

Seems utterly mad. You have to wonder why people would ever bother given that SL55 AMG R230's are much cheaper!

Because they are collectors cars, a collector/enthusiast will specifically want one, there are few around, and £lots is where supply and demand meets. Chances are most collectors already have an SL55 AMG anyway.

aye, some silly german baron will have more than enough to stick this under a dust cover in his garage among his pagodas..

indeed, the advert says "All in all, certainly an SL for both the collector as well as the enthusiasts of this compelling Roasters"
i like roasting, but i think this car is out of my reach

$&£*(&$*£ necromancy.

If you want to talk about your purchase, make a new thread and post some damn pics. Don't want to hear re-hashed quotes from wiki in years old threads you've found by searching for "SL".

Personally I love the R129 SL, it's one of 'those cars' to me, there is someting about them I just love. I really would like one, just not sure I could really live with 2 seats ...then again at £5k I could buy one as a second car I suppose. I did look seriously into buying one before I bought the Jag, and again before I bought the 540i ...but for space reasons I did not go for it.

It looks as much fun as driving this :

It's a different kind of fun, it's no sports car for sure, but it's a hell of a nice cruiser, for wafting along with the roof down and enjoying life it's great :)
