Anyone tried running a UT2k4 server before?
Just sorting out things for a small lan (10 of us at most) at the weekend and was wondering whether I should run a dedicated server for UT2k4, or whether I could get away with running it on my own box while I play?

The PC that'd be running it dedicated would be an XP2200, 512mb ram and a geforce256 (that I'm not entirely sure will load UT2k4, but I think it does just about :o)

While if I run it on my main box while I play it, it'd be a 3ghz P4, 1gb ram, geforce6800le and a generally smooth running box.

Just looking for some suggestions really :)

I used to host when I played my brother over our LAN on a XP2100, 512MB RAM and a 9500pro, worked fine. That was only death match mind.
If you get onto large palyercounts you may need more RAM but otherwise I would say you would be fine - and thats whichever you did.
If you host from your machine still do a dedicated server, and join via LAN, its much better than a Listen Server.

That should be fine then thanks :)
Been setting up dedicated servers for a few games (I.e. CS and CS:source) but figured a few would be ok from my PC and really it's just to save me some work :o

if your just doing a small lan then you can run a server on the same machine, you really only need a dedi when you got about 16 players connecting to you, other than that it shouldnt really be an issue
