I've started to do the same thing to lose weight/gain fitness. My advice is to start off slowly, run for as long as you are comfortable and don't push it too hard. Slowly increase the time/distance that you run.

If you go off too hard, attempting to run lots of miles during your first week, you may injure yourself. Also, the hard effort at the beginning may put you off!

Learn how to stretch properly as well!

I'm not great at nutrition, but just be sensible. Eat what you want to, but moderation is the key. Don't eat too much before running, or you may feel nauseous.

Keep hydrated - drink small amounts of water all the way through every day. This will help you during your exercise and will also have the added benefit of satiating any hunger feelings that you may have.

I couldn't really say, as I'm no expert and I don't know you. Just start off gently and, to be honest, it is probably wise to get a health check up from your doctor before you begin. Good luck :)

I would try 30 minutes maybe 2 or 3 times a week max.
I would also learn how to pace yourself, (don't go out all guns blazing for the first 5 minutes and struggle the rest of the way).

Anything else would be overdoing it IMO. :)

Woah, when I gained weight (from 16 to 20 stone) I think 2 minutes running felt like I was going to have a heart attack! and I was used to training before I gained the weight lol. Dunno about that one man!

For me, I found eating normal 3x a day, nothing too fatty like, helps lose weight. For training, gym would be good. A nice weights session (nothing heavy) or some stepper machine really helps.
I change often though, I used to do weights/cardio in one 5-6 days a week (very energy draining but lost 1 stone in 3 weeks and it stayed lost!), then I did a day miss a day, kept changing how many times I ate, changing what weight techniques I did and how much I left, etc.

Depends really on the weight you are and what weight you want to be ~ more detail!!!

*edit*

must be tired, you want to know about running, well try it and see but imo if you weight a lot running isnt that good atm. Its too much strain on your body + your unfit

When I started the first time I went I managed 2 miles.

I did 2 miles for 3 runs, one every other day, then I doubled the distance.

I think its more important to run what you can without pushing yourself too far when you first start out because your body isn't used to it and you could injure yourself, which would put you off straight away.

In the end I gave up running because I found it a bit dull, bought a bike instead :)

Start off easy. Do maybe a 1 mile walk three times a week. Work up to a 1 mile jog... then do the same with 3 miles....and 5 miles until you are up around 8miles if you want to go that far.

I wouldnt do anymore than 8 miles though as it can be very time consuming.

Once you are at a good level of fittest remember to vary your running. Maybe just go for a 1 mile sprint or a slow 5mile run.

Otherwise your body will adapt to your running and you wont improve your fittest as quickly.

I have not gained a lot of weight i have just got a bit of a tummy on me.

I am really not a healthy person i smoke and i drink too much and i am lazy, i eat crap (at least 3 take aways a week).

I want to maintain the weight i have put on as i was nder weight anyway, but i just want to start getting fit in the process.
