I'm looking to get some Cat 5e cable to run around the house and I'm really struggling to find some genuine, pure copper, non-stranded cable.

I prefer the rainforest site but all of it seems to be CCA!

What's some recommended stuff? I'll need around 100m, needs to be white.

Also would like any advice on running it around the house. It will be around doorframes, carpet, etc. No running under carpet, floorboards, etc. is possible.

Thanks gents.

What's the best way to run Cat5e around a door, i.e. through to another room? Also, upstairs, how do I do that?

I really need a "basics" guide to this.

If I explain my setup, I've got the router and VDSL modem next to the master socket. One room to the right (if you're looking at the router - the sitting room), has one of the Sky boxes in it, at the other end, so a run round a doorframe and then round a door.

The room next to the sitting room, has another Sky box in it, with the Sky box essentially behind the first one.

Then upstairs, directly above the router is my room, so running round a door frame and then upstairs then under a carpet somehow.

Apologies if that's not at all clear.

Does the sky box's really needs a wired connection?

General guide for cat 5e is don't crimp/bend the cable and terminate within spec.

They don't do wireless.

If I explain, I'm essentially replacing a powerline network which has routers on each adaptor to provide WiFi and ethernet to devices in the rooms they're in. I just use the Sky boxes as a point of reference.

I need the multiple WiFi APs as the WiFi in this house is and always has been, crap.

Chisel out a piece of the bottom of the door frame so the cable doesn't get pinched. If you can't do that (e.g. if the house is rented), pass the cable through on the side away from the hinge.
