running cpu cable across motherboard

my cpu power cable is too short to be routed anywhere apart from straight up the motherboard and under my gtx480 (behind the pci-e slot clip on the right hand side)

is this going to be safe? with how hot fermi's get and all?

it cant even stretch over the card. it litterally has to go that way.

i will buy some extenders at some point.

I had this same issue with my Lian Li case but moved it all into my new 650D and it just reaches now by routing it through one of the grommits and back through at the top to plug into the mobo.

You don't need to worry about running it across the board, though. Just messy and ugly. Just make sure it doesn't interfere with any fans.
