I have a gtx 980 strix and msi x99a krait motherboard and my current card covers the pci slot next to it

so if I moved my gfx card to another slot on the board would it still run at the same speed?

If you want peace of mind just check in BIOS but Google the board and all slots are x16 so no impact on the speed... doesn't make a diff in most applications anyway but seems like you can use any slot you like, the question is how many lanes you have but x99 suggests you have plenty on your CPU

im running an 5820k which has 28 lanes looking at the tbale in the manual it only lists dashes under sinlge card configurations but i guess i might give it a go :) thanks for the help guys obv it recomments that slot 1 should be used but i read somewhere its 2% difference even if i run it at x8 intead of x16
