Running multiple WoW's

Whenever i've accidentally hit the wow shortcut while wow was already on-screen i've had a directx error. Playing one on screen at a time allowed me to have two running. I'd set my newb on follow and use the wifes account to drag him through instances.
I don't consider it cheating - at no point was any third party app doing any of the work. I would tab between the two whenever action was required from the newb.
Playing on two screens... i may give that a shot.

god that takes me back.

remember when running two Asheron's Call client was a real issue and people devised apps to work around it.

Someone in my guild plays like that, him and his real life mate both have 2 accounts and do dungeons together, as 4man.
As far as I know, he simply uses windowed mode, and alt-tabs between them.
Ok, I wouldnt spend my money on two accounts, but I wouldnt necessarily say its sad or a cheat- you're having to do the work on both characters at once, so its really a case of a test of your own multi-tasking ability!

hehe, those were the days! I played a life/xbow on Thistledown, quit shortly after AC2 came along. AC2 had so much potential :(

I don't need it badly, just be easier to heal bot myself with my priest on one account while i play my other char on other account instead of using 2 separate PC's.

My statement still stands, wether its automated or not. I'm allowed an opinion. :p

so to cheat then. is that what your saying.

lol! OMGZZZZ ch34tz

Ive run 2 instances of wow at the same time without too much of a problem and since my monitor is pretty big, I just had the 2 of them in windows and sized so I could see both of them at the same time. This way I just had to click from one window to another.

Its not cheating and its no different to getting another healer to help you. Also, its not exactly the same as buying a few pots is it... to have free heals on tap whenever you want as well as bufs. You also dont have to worry about the guy helping you falling asleep from boredom >.>

Guess i'm quite lucky, th girlfriend loves WoW and plays as a priest. Sitting in the same room I just have to ask for healing or a shield and i get it instantly :D

yeah, thats just what i ask the missus to do when shes in the same room ;)! Not that I ever get 'it' instantly....

tbh I think anything that gives you an advantage over someone playing with 1 instance is indeed going a bit too far, but then people will always push the boundries of games as far as they can and good luck to them I guess :)

The people saying they use their wife or girlfriends account to go through instances, why don't you just play together?
I find the whole idea pretty sad - it is a multiplayer game after all ;)

Hell I've seen a video of a guy with six PC's together playing Daoc I believe and he had an entire party slaved to macros and he soloed dungeons and stuff with them ...

.

I remeber him, Team Wizzy he used to pvp to with them to lol.

I used to 2 box for daoc but that helped a lot with cleric buffs and heals, with wow I wouldnt bother not really worth the effort.

That's a bit like 'Zezima' off Runescape. His (her?) character levels up to max after a couple of days from releasing a new skill.

This issue has come up on the official WoW forums many times, and it is NOT cheating/against TOS to do it, according to the official Blizzard reps. As long as you're not using a 3rd party bot program to control the extra account(s) then it's fine.

I remember hearing about one guy who had 4 accounts on a PvP server, I think it was 1 Warrior and 3 Mages he had, and whenever anyone got close to him, he'd just spam aoe on his Mages and nothing survived longer than a few seconds. :p

Off topic, but didn't want to start another WoW thread -

How exactly do battleground honor points work? Is it those medals you pick up? How do you trade them in for weapons and things? Does world PvP get you honor, how do you get the medals?

Nothing wrong with 2 boxing, expecially if you play in the early hours of the morning on Euro servers etc. I used to know a guy on EverQuest that controlled 6 characters at once on a few pc's quite well - didnt do bad out of it moneywise either! lol

have had 4 clients running at once on the same machine all at 16fps so its more than possible. Thats on an Athlon64 3000+ with a FX5900 and 1.5gb ram

I think I should have worded the question differently, I think some people believe I want to set up a bot to heal me? This isn't the case I just want to play 2 of my characters at the same time without any automation. If you still see this as cheating then fair do's thats your opinion :)
