I've got my Windws XP Pro on a partioned drive C: which was set up with 20gb of space which I thought would be more than enough. Now I'm getting a message low on disk space and am as low as 980mb free after running system tools to remove unnecessary files and ccleaner and currently at 275mb free!
One of the problem appears to be the temp Folders in C:/Documents and Settings/Steve/Local settings/Temp which holds 2.73 gb of files. Can I delete this folder??

I have got some other small programmes on C: such a ccleaner but not that many!

That's a lot of temp files!

Yes, but use the Disk Cleanup wizard to do it for you. Also your web browser should have an option to clean up temporary files.

Deleted all previous system restore points and used disk cleanup but they do not clear the temp folder described in original post so still only 427mb free! Insall probably a year od.

Installed jdisk report and it confirms that the temp folder C:/documents and settings/steve/local settings/temp is the main hogger of space. Why isn't it emptied when I run disk cleaner or cceaner?? Local Setting is one of the "greyed" out folders if that makes any difference.

That folder contains all sorts what you should look out for installation directories (I.e. directories created when you install something) these can be very large and are completely unnecessary. TBH just deleting anything in it shouldn't cause too many issues - you might well lose a few "custom" options in some of the applications you use by doing so though
