Running out of gas.

If in doubt, lower your heating a tad, whack on an extra jumper and do us all a favour why don't you good sir/madam.

Why don't people just whack on an extra jumper? Were we all brought up that differently?

I've lived with people that would wander around in shorts and a t-shirt (even one lad no top on) in the middle of winter who then stick the heating on far too high...

*mutters to himself*

Running out of gas? Come here, I've got loads. Pull my finger.

Lol, have done that irl recently.

"There is no risk of consumers being cut off. The system has in fact been responding extremely well. Britain has a vast amount of storage - it's called the North Sea," said a government spokesman.

Who is this spokesperson - give him a medal!

Err that's not the reason at all and it would have to get EPICALLY cold to freeze.

It turns from gas to liquid at -297 F I think that's -160 degrees Centigrade.

Natural gas freezing would be the least of our worries!

Sorry, I didn't mean to say that was the reason for them being buried deep underground.

Vauxhall had their gas turned off due to urgent domestic use... we have backup Oil instead... but no grit, which is worrying

They'll be on an Interruptible contract which means they pay less for their Gas but have the potential to be knocked off if required.

I work for EON and there was a notice on our generic portal page saying that the 2nd Urgent gas warning was issued yesterday.

It also runs inline wiht what stelly said as it mentioned they have contacted large consumers to reduce the gas they supply for a short period and Various EON plants etc are switching to alternate fuel to conserve the Gas.

The consumer stats state that yeterday was the highest gas usage recorded since the company was formed.

Yesterday I went shopping and nearly all the staff were wearing scarves and stuff, apparently all local businesses have had their gas cut off to conserve supplies.

I work for National Grid, there is no Gas supply issue in the UK. Stuff you may read in the media is written for hype.
We have pipelines from Europe, LNG Storage and an import facility at Grain to ensure the UK does not have any issues.

Move along :)

Put my mind at rest, thanks. :)

the issue is will russia ration our supply if it gets more intense. ?

Bah what a load of crap it just an excuse to put price of gas up . This country is epic fail at everything .:o !!!!!!!!! A pound to a pinch of sh~t gas price go up shortly .

As I understand the current situation we don't rely on Gas from Russia, i.e. the recent Russia/Ukraine dispute did not affect the UK.

I believe we were exporting Gas during that time.

As I said above, those that had their Gas supply cut off have been paying lower prices for their Gas for the last 8 years - they weren't complaining during that time ;)

It's also their choice to go on an Interruptible contract.

Our gas froze once on Christmas eve, 4 times on Xmas day and has been frozen all day today (apart from the times I took a hairdryer out to the regulator from the two canisters) - I spent most of Christmas day trying to keep it flowing and that was at -2C

It is Propane, and after speaking to our gas supplier, he said it is very common on uninsulated bottles and pipes (due to moisture contaminatinating the regulators and valves from the bottles) - the liquid propane also bubbles less easily at -7C.

Not good when you need it for your fire and cooker.
