Running Software From Cd

Is it possible to installing Software on a cd e.g. Defrag Software, then be able to take that CD to another computer then run the software from the CD to scan that computer.

Why would you ever run a defrag util from CD? It'd be dog slow!


It seems unlikely, as a defrag app would want to make logs and whatnot, and it can't make log files on a read-only cd

I dont nessesarly mean defrag, i mean any program like virus scanners spyware removers

Yes, so long as the programs don't need any registry entries to do their business. A USB flash drive would be better though since you'd then have easy read/write access.
