So im about to build my computer waiting on a little bit more money so i can order everything at once.

I have a question though im looking at getting 2 OCZ Vertex 2 60 Gb drives to run in RAID 0 as a boot drive and for some games. Now i have been told that speed decreases if you dont run TRIM. I also read you cant TRIM the drives if they are in RAID 0. Is this true? Will the speed of the RAID array degrade if i cant use TRIM

Yes, it is true - I don't know of a RAID controller that can interpret and pass on the TRIM commands.

Real-world performance when you do not TRIM your drives doesn't degrade that much at all. On paper, writes degrade a lot, but they are still hugely more faster than anything mechanical.

Lastly, what is the point in running SSDs in RAID0?

Do you get 60gb or 120gb if you raid 2x 60gb vertex ssd's?

I can see them for £99 and having two would be tempting if i got 120gb 500-600mb read speeds.Which brings me to another point IOPS is 50k for each drive so in raid does that mean you get 100k IOPS? :O
