I'm going to try and running Windows 98SE on the following machine, can anyone think of any problems that I may encounter?

Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
Gigabyte P35C-DS3R
2gb Patriot PC6400 kit
NEC 18x DVD-RW
Radeon X1800XT
Creative SB Audigy
Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W
Tenda Gigabit Network Interface Card
Maxtor 300gb SATA
USB keyboard/mice

I believe there's W98SE drivers for the Radeon, and the SB Audigy, I didn't think there's any drivers for the onboard network controller, so I bought the Tenda network card. Is there any other problems I'm likely to encounter? Any problems it being 2gb, or the SATA, or USB, or anything like this?

i would try a ps2 mouse n k/b .... or pick up a cheap adapter, if i remember right win98 had issues startin pc with usb mouse n k/b.

With the SATA problems, presumably most of these would go away if I run it in IDE rather than AHCI.

With the guys suggesting VMWare. I've considered it, but no. They have problems with DirectX in my experience.

This is a bit of an experiment... there'll probably be another OS installed on it as well.

Actually, what would be interesting if I could install Windows 98 on a USB stick. That would be interesting too.

USB motherboard drivers, possibly windows will sort it out but you may need to find generic drivers on the net. Memory should be fine up to 3+Gb. SATA run a IDE as you have said.

I have had this running on a Dell D610 laptop as well as MSDos 5 in dual boot which was fun. I now run both using VMware
