I've recently been doing a lot more running outside recently, and would like to be able to take my phone (for GPS tracking, music, and the added safety, should I need it). I've been looking at the typical armbands, but I was wondering if anybody has any experience using these? How well do they work with bigger phones, is the bulk noticeable/uncomfortable while running?

Also if anyone has used them, is there a particular one you would recommend?

Ta!

the added safety, should I need it)

!
Confused as to why you'd think strapping a £500 phone to your arm whilst outside is going to increase your safety (unless you're lucky enough to live somewhere where you can run without coming into human contact).

just put it in your pocket. a zipped one and your good to go

None of the clothes I run in have zipped pockets, or I'd just do that ;) Also the movement of it would get annoying very quickly I'd imagine.

I'd say that where I run that's not really something I need to worry about. I was more going by the idea that should I need to contact somebody for one reason or another, I'd rather have a phone to hand.

If the armband is a decent fit for arm and phone and doesn't flop around then it will be fine as the SGS3 is a light phone.

I used to run with an iP4S and to be honest the galaxy is slightly better. It's a bit lighter and the arm band i got is only a tiny bit bigger due to the smaller border thingies and larger ones on the iPhone strap. The only thing that bugs me is it sometimes gets a bit humid in the pouch cause of the heat. I've not had any problems but does make me wonder...

E: Its also quite a bit easier to see cause of the larger screen when twisting your arm round mid run.

I hate having things dangling about in my pocket when running, like keys and phones. Tried out a money belt (used for carrying money abroad) and whacked my stuff in there, pretty decent as you can wear it under your clothes and you don't need pockets!

Although now I have a note 2, my only other option is to attach wheels to the actual phone and skateboard instead.

Yup, it is pretty awesome! :D Will most definitely attract all the ladies :p

And you have some settings, plus a few different arc reactors.

If strapping it to yourself, just make sure you get one that can deal with rain, and importantly... one that deals with condensation/humidity. You don't want to invalidate your warranty because you sweat and caused the moisture to get into the phone.

I just hold it in my hand when running.

I got an armband for my S3 but found it too big and ridiculous, and this was one without much protection from elements, got a smaller phone for this sort of thing now.
