Don't think Lewis was going to get past Norris in the dry.

Norris was given every choice one could argue the team could been more stern with him.

I voted the race an 8. It was close throughout. Would have rated it higher if the rain came earlier and needed a change from inters to wets.

Lewis could be in for some pain now when he has to take a new engine. Toto has been saying for some time now Merc are going to need to take one (He could have been talking about Bottas though)

I mean I'm a Hamilton fan. But this season for Hamilton has been below par. Verstappen remains a favourite.

He got a little lucky with the rain after a poor qualifying and start to still end up winning. He wanted to stay out as well, could have been a disaster.
 
Verstappen pit radio - Nicely done max, we'll take that. P2 nice job.

Verstappen - Oooh, we'll definitely take that one. Haha. Wow, ok that was at the end a good call. I think we took the right lap.

Horner - Well done Max, You judged that well, you got the right lap there.

Verstappen - We didn't lose so many points so that's really really good.
 
Really impressed with Verstappen's drive from the back of the grid. Composed.

Hamilton drove well too and his win, especially this one shows the strength the team. Great calls, great car.

Well done to Mercedes.

Don't worry mate. I said he can still win this when he was 9 seconds behind the lead, and was questioned if I was watching the same race as everyone else. ;)

He knows he could have won, on merit. It'll be a huge boost. For a young guy he's very mature and his time will come if the car allows. He's making a name for himself now, it's great to see.

No one declared the end of his career. He isn't the same driver he was. About now is when the oldest drivers won their last championships.

To put it in F1 terminology, the switchover point.

Alonso still does okay, but he isn't the championship winning driver he was, nor Vettel or Raikkonen.

I’m not sure 7 will be beaten let alone 8. Would need a young dominant driver in a top car for nearly the entirety of their racing career. I think F1 will look to limit any dominance of this degree in the future again for the spectacle and money it brings.

Make sense now but going into the race knowing Max will be right at the back they had great chance of getting 25 or even 26 points and Max not scoring any or only a couple.

True and agree, but the recovery from back here would have been easier for Merc (who struggle to follow) compared to some of the next few tracks. The rain could have been a stroke of luck (like it was for RBR). Obviously hindsight is 20/20 :D, for all we know both of them could have taken each other out coming through the field.
 
Wasn’t there a race a few years ago when LH crossed the pit lane and just got a reprimand? I think he stayed out to race as a strategy change aswell after entering the pits, so worse potentially than aqua’ off the track. So might escape with something similar. Finger crossed anyway.
