Just a quick update, are you checking the right temp readings?

You don't want to be looking at CPU or GPU for throttling issues, but rather the motherboard. Its the VRMs that are overheating, not the CPU!

my oh my there's so much bad advice in this thread.
the 78lmt usb3 despite being a 4+1 phase is very capable at holding an fx8 on all cores 100% loaded at 1.45v. With work this board took my fx8320 to 5.1ghz at 1.55v

and yes the 78lmt usb3 does have onboard graphics too.

There is an option in the bios to disable APM (this will stop throttling).

5.1ghz on a 4+1 seems very impressive! I only just managed to hit 5ghz on my 8+2 VRM setup.

What cooling were you using? Ultimately the throttling is there for a reason, there have been many instances of VRM fires, so I would definitely keep an eye on temps!

you can always try this, who knows, it might work for you too

hey man, good shout, tried this and has helped a little. i dont drop below 70-80fps and when that low it is smooth, i only know the drop in fps from net_graph.

and this is in a server with like 30-32 folk and was great, i know its not that high but if like you guys said the optimization then better than nothing this way i suppose..
