Notice that the incident happened last year. If I were being cynical I might suggest that sexism is at play here with the police and courts having to believe women.

He will have his day in court and the truth will out.

I mean, that is how the legal system works. We can speculate all we like but there is a reason these things have to go through the courts. If he's guilty then presumably his lawyers have advised him that there isn't sufficient evidence for a conviction, or he's innocent.
