Ryzen 1600 vs 1700 vs 2600 vs 2700 vs intel

I'd be tempted to snap this up one of the bargain 1700/1700X's in the MM at the moment, otherwise just grab a 2600X for the best balance of gaming/productivity/price.
Agreed. Some good savings to be had that could be put elsewhere. There should be a few around over the next few weeks and the OP should have access to the MM.

I am tempted to get use ryzen and get a x470 and upgrade in the future if i need and spend the saving on ram and GPU, I just had to get some help with the comparisons just to check the difference.

Does anyone know or have a link to how the warranty would work ?

^^^^ GPU would effect gaming more yes , long as you've got a stable platform like ryzen or Intel and not AMD old FX chips haha

Second hand 1700 for £150... Very good !

Slap in x470 board and then in 3 years time slap in second hand zen 2 chip haha

So a use 1700 would be a better option then a 2600 ?

If you want to save some money, why not just get an i5 8400, B360 or H370 motherboard and a basic kit of 2400/2666Mhz RAM?
Gaming performance is going to be superior to any Ryzens and you can use your GPU (VCE/NVENC) to encode streaming, encoding video or audio should be pretty good on the i5 8400 since those make use of AVX.

Here are some benches (you can find the i5 8400 in the list):

£387 and you get prime gaming performance and you won't even need to bother with overclocking.

found 8400 to be tad faster then overclocked 3.9ghz ryzen 1600 with gtx 1070ti

still, the pricing of ryzen 1800x for £150 aint bad - £85 board and £ 154 16gb 3000hz ram... least you've got a few choices haha :D

1800x for £150 u must not be looking in the right place.

Depends on what you value, if you care more for gaming performance, I'd say i5 8400, if you care more for multithreaded performance, 1st gen Ryzens go for pretty cheap now, but you will need to get faster RAM to get closer to the i5's gaming performance.
If you just play games, encode some multimedia on the side and occasionally stream, then I still think the i5 8400 is a better offering, at least at current prices. But in the end it's up to OP to check benchmarks relevant to his workloads and make a choice based on that.

Thanks ill check it out.
I'm not a extreme gamer so the cpu does not need to be the best for gaming, I just want something that will give me good all round performance at the best price.
The price is a big thing for me with ram prices at the moment, ill need to pay more for ram then CPU and GPU's are no better.

Thanks ill check it out.

If you are coming from FX, I'd guess you've had your setup a while? What graphics card are you running at the moment? Also, if you are buying DDR4 right now, just grab 3200 speed, it's £10 more than 2400 stuff, no point in limiting yourself for £10.

How far does the 8400 overclock ?

as above, locked at 3.8Ghz for all 6 cores. again still faster in games then 1600 and slightly above 2600

and i like both 8400 and 1600 chips - perfect chips for your standard gamer personally

money can be saved on non wifi - flagship board - vrm count same as its z370 counterparts

Not a bad CPU for the price even with the lock something to consider, what the expected upgrade ability ?

Here's the equivalent in AMD, with a bit of lifespan left in the chipset/socket. It incluedes 3200MHz DDR4, and the refresh 2600 (3.9GHz boost) with no OC, or probably 4.0-4.1GHz of you can be bothered to go in to the UEFI and press a few buttons. :)
