Ryzen 1800x for gaming or 7600k

Unless you have a high refresh rate monitor or play competition games, you won't actually notice a difference. Perhaps start considering other factors in your purchase like platform cost and upgrade pathway.

4 cores as a purchase today is bonkers IMO

AM4 platform seems to have legs too, the 3xxx Ryzen chips might be pretty epic

Why look at the 1800x over the 2700? They are both pretty similar performance just the 2700 has less power draw from what I can tell? Also similar price.

odd cpu choices and totally different price brackets.smells a bit like bait.if its soley for gaming on a budget get newer i5 or if you have enough a 8700k or the newer i7 8086k basically a 5ghz version of the 8700k.

Don't buy 4 thread CPU's in this day and age, not to pair with anything more than a GTX 1050TI / RX 560.

why not an i5-8600K as that closer in price to a Ryzen 1800x (there only about £5 to £10 difference)

With an RX 580 he's not going to benefit from either, he might as well just burn the £150 extra cost over the 2600.
