Hi all,

I feel like getting a new case and small upgrade and was thinking of building a super budget itx build which would eventually just move under the TV when I do a full upgrade next year, the question is would a Ryzen 3 3100 be as good/better then a I7 3770k? If not I might just get an itx motherboard for the old CPU...

Thanks for any help

Take a look at some gaming benchmarks, but I can't imagine it's a step up from what you have. Grab a cheap B450 or A520 board and keep an eye out for a cheap 3600 in the coming sales - that's what I'm doing. Would certainly give you more headroom for more demanding tasks.

The 3100 may be bottom of the range, but the Zen 2 range is good. It's single core performance is pretty strong.

Yeah the 3770K can be more than usable for gaming. I wouldn't invest any significant money into it though as you cannot upgrade it further. But if you buy a 3100 + b450 itx board, in a few years you can upgrade to a 6, 8, 12 or 16 core. You can even upgrade to a cpu with significantly better ipc.
