Ryzen 3300X - not as popular as I expected

The 1600 AF, not the 1600X, weird naming scheme on behalf of AMD.

The 1600 AF is literally just a 2600 with 100mhz lower clock speed, once OC'd they're pretty much identical.

He was right a month or two ago, it hardly matters now though given there's no stock to be found anywhere. The only other option would be to look second hand, 2600's pop up fairly regularly.

The point remains whichever 1600 it is. Anyway I have spent way too much time on this topic now, and broken my golden rule of not engaging in pointless debates that don't make sense (to me at least), so time for me to let it drop and not let the thread be derailed any more than it has. I'll report back when I get my 3300x set up. :)

Honestly I don't think I'd pay £120 for one either.

Regardless, we're not allowed to discuss other etailers which doesn't really help a discussion like this.

Well for 25% more money you could get 50% more cores, would need to be around £100 to make it worthwhile over a £150 3600.
 
Was looking at bagging an R3 3300X. No one has them in stock and I see prices at the £140-150 mark! Those listing for £115 - 120 won't have them until the middle of next month! May well have to go for an R5 3600 instead. Will only be an extra £30 or so no major crisis.

If you need to build NOW and can't wait for more stock then for sure buy a 3600, I would absolutey do the same. The 3300x at more than £120 stops being a budget champ and anyone charging £150 is really price gouging.

Look above in the thread, ASUS are doing a cashback offer for £65 off a mobo and CPU combo which makes the 3600x or 3700x a bargain if you are not going to be upgrading to AMD 4000 on release. :)

Yes you are right, supply and demand. I got one for 120EUR (£110) so am very happy and looking forward to a fun few months getting to know AMD again before Zen3 hits. :)

That's a great price! Near me it's out of stock or was £150. I think once they get enough supply to sell at £99 we'll see a million people with 3300x PCs (maybe :P).

Unless planning to upgrade to a 4000 series chip relatively soon I'd say the extra £30 odd for a 3600 is well worth the additional outlay. Still, at £120 the 3300X is a good buy.

I just ordered the 3600 for £152. I saved £10 with some voucher codes I had.

Even better! I recently built a system for a friend's son using one coupled with an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and he couldn't be happier. It will just last that much longer than a 3300X with tangible benefits outside gaming now (if that's a consideration for you).
 
Well, 3300x is up and running and holy crap... the speed difference over my laptop 7700HQ is amazing. Total War Warhammer II is like a different game. Adobe Lightroom is also super fast in combination with the 32GB 3600mhz RAM. It's the perfect CPU to see me through until Zen3. :)
