Hi there,
I've just fitted a 5800x to my X470 board, and all is good except it doesn't seem
to down clock.
The lowest clockspeed at idle is 3599Mhz.
Have I missed something in the Bios or the Powerplan.
Also Motherboard is Asus Crosshair vII Hero and I can't seem to find PBO & PCO in
the Bios under Advanced where Youtube vids show it.
Again am I missing something or is age finally catching up:confused::confused:

Motherboard bios might need an update if some options are missing.

Advanced power options under processor power management set the minimum processor state to something lower than the default 99% it resets every time you update the chipset drivers

What are you using to measure the current speed?

Check windows power settings, should be on balanced for it to downclock.
I'm using CPUID Hardware Monitor for CPU speed
Power settings are on Balanced with 5% minimum CPU utilization

Motherboard is on laterst bios

That seems normal to me, my 5900x reports the same. If you use a more detailed monitoring software like HWinfo64 and expand the "core Effective clocks" header you'll hopefully see that the cores are going much lower, most of mine have dropped to below 5Mz at some point.

Hmmm, perhaps the YouTube vids you watched were using older bios versions. No reason I can think of that the options wouldn’t be in the same place as the vids if you’re running the same board and bios
Thanks for helping. I found both pbo & pco and set +200mhz & negative 15 all cores on the curve optimizer.
On Cinebench R23 i'm getting all cores 5049mhz @ 1.420 volts @ 73c - Well pleased.
I've just gotta work out how to undervolt my 3080ti now

Glad you’re sorted and good luck with the gpu!

meanwhile ive set mine to 4650 all core and 1.2v, lost 0 r23 points as it doesnt thermal throttle and uses 123ish watts at full bore

Sick result. Well done.

I do see this posted every so often, i don't know but its not normal.

When my cores are not sleeping they clock as low as 239Mhz, i have a screen cap here with one at 306Mhz.

I see you are using Ryzen Master to tune your CPU.
Is this the same as using the BIOS ?
