I currently have

Ryzen 2700x overclocked to 4.2

GeForce 1660 Super

B450 Steel Legend Edition motherboard

32Gb 3200 Ram

and running from Nvme drives 1TB x2

I was told that i would be better off getting a Ryzen 5 5800x and it would be a noticeable improvement over my current CPU

I mainly use computer for Sim Racing, Photoshop and 3d Software. More gaming i would say

Any help would be great

Thanks

Or get the best of both worlds and go with a cheaper 5600 or 5700X and a new GPU, you'll still fetch £180-200 for the 2700X and the 1660 Super on the used market depending on condition etc.

Thanks, just looking at cards now. Would you recommend any other card that it’s a bit cheaper? But still an improvement on my current card? I prefer nvidia but others are okay if reasonably priced. Thanks

Processor will arrive today, is it just a case of swapping over the chip and putting my system in bios to default, then upgrade bios and overclock again?
Update BIOS, power on system, let BIOS update finish, power down, remove old cpu, install new cpu, setup BIOS etc, reinstall windows, update windows, install chipset driver, restart, away you go. That's my recommendation. :)

its all up and running, all very good so far )) would £250 get me a good card for upgrading from 1660 Super?

Thanks

For me, a 6600 is not a big enough step, I'd consider a 6700 XT the minimum, but I'd have a look for yourself, e.g. type "1660 Super v 6600" on YouTube and watch some videos like this:
