Ryzen 7000G series might be coming after all

They have made a 8 core 12 CU processor, the Z1 Extreme.

But it seems ROG lobbed a sack of cash at them for that to happen and perhaps they have rights temporarily or permanently to that design.

Also the laptop chips, 8 cores and 12 CU.

Anyway it's clearly not a problem for AMD to get busy with chips and glue with enough incentive. Can only assume they're worried that people aren't motivated enough to pay a premium for spicy APUs when there's no real pressure to have tiny pcs without any room for a graphics card. The ones they have made are for scenarios where a small form factor is the selling point.

Businesses love tiny pcs but why would they pay for souped up graphics over basic graphics. That's an entertainment feature.

The 6800H or 7840HS are both 12cu chips, and can be had in alright priced mini-PCs. All the AMD APUs with decent graphics are mobile chips at the moment though.
Just wish they'd pull the finger out and release the desktop variants. They're definitely coming at one point, but whether people are still as interested by the time they arrive will be another thing.

So according to this story the desktop will get the full fat 8c Zen 12CU RDNA 3 chip after in addition to some Zen4c varieties as well with 3CU's.

I think the new line of 8000G CPUs could be a fantastic option for many end users who want a CPU with a bit more graphical power than the 5700G that they were eying up but was too expensive at the time.

I certainly find myself eyeing up a 5700G instead of my 5700X because I honestly don’t need a dedicated GPU.

I have a 5700g in one rig, and was using it without a dGPU for a while for retro gaming, for which it was great. I would pick up an equivalent AM5 chip (the 8700G for sure) if AsRock release an STX 12v compatible Deskmini (like they had with the X300 for the 5700G).
