Hi,
Want the following and just a bit stuck on compatibility with the ram..

1: 2700x

2: Asus Strix X470 (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ocket-am4-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-6c1-as.html

3: 8 Pack 4000hz Ram (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...4000mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-098-tg.html).

The ram doesnt list Ryzen as compatible? Will this definitely not work?

Any help appreciated as i want to buy tonight. Any other motherboard that is cheaper but will allow me to overclock a bit and have ram running at 3600hz or close to?

I have a 2600X and the Strix X470. All worked well.

I think the main difference between Prime Pro and Strix is the Strix has beefier VRMs. I think a lot of people think they're overkill for Ryzen, but I wanted to be prepared for Ryzen 2 and overclocking so I went for it.

As others have said, that RAM will work well at 3200, 3333, 3400, whatever your board and chip can support. However, the thing is you won't be able to just set DOCP and let it go - you'll need to enter the speed and timings yourself I think, which is a bit more of a pain. If you're prepared to do that it seems like good RAM.

Ram 3200mhz c14 should in 99% of cases work... 3600mhz c16 or so is a 50%-60% scenario and, 4000mhz almost zero as the imc on ryzen is not great and infinity fabric runs one on one divider with memory frequency... So even if imc is good infinity fabric may not be.

I would buy the sticks and tune using gear down 2T command rate and proc odt settings as well as voltage tuning.

In the end c14 3200 is a great boost and with next gen ryzen which goes into the same board imc should improve again. In which case 3600-4000 is easier. I have two cpus only that can run 4000mhz out of many...

Ok that what you just said about 2t command and proc odt i reeeeally understood haha

So i could buy the 4000hz ram and start it off at 3200hz and should work . Will the board set it at 3200hz and boot or will i have to put in all the settings? If so i think ill buy 3200hz lol

Just been looking at some benchmarks with 2700x and 16gb ram and in lots of cases 3000hz is superior to 3200 and 3400hz. Is that cause the cas latency are lower in 3000? This isnt 8 pack ram so 3200 c14 would perform better in gaming than 3600 c16?
