hi

i got a ryzen cpu and stealth fan with it which has got paste already on it, but i was wondering is any extra paste needed with pc's getting so hot these days :)

cheers

As others have said, no. Direct contact metal to metal would be best for thermal conductivity if the surfaces were perfectly flat with no imperfections. However in reality even polished surfaces are not perfect so air gaps would exist and air is a poor thermal conductor. Thermal paste is much better than air, but still not as good as the thermal conductivity of metal so you need just enough to fill the imperfections and no more. If you added more thermal paste and created a thicker layer this would actually reduce the thermal conductivity to the heat sink.

It's there to fill in the micro-pits and imperfections in the surfaces. Adding more than needed to do that is a waste, and a lot more reduces heat transfer.
An excess usually just gets squashed away. You don't want to splurge all over your board but you need to add a very large amount to reduce heat transfer. There's a YT video showing it.
Pre-applied is the ideal application. Seeing more paste applied to pre-applied would wrench the stomach of an experienced builder.
As so I think.

i also have the tomahawk motherboard but the tower i bought is not a good fit as i cant put a fan at the top because of the heatsink on the mb, so having to send it back and now i have no idea what tower will have room for the mb so i can fit fans at top :(
