I'm not seeing a thread on this, although there is a Ryzen 2 thread but Pinnacle Ridge will come before that? Having a Google around it looks like it may release in the next few weeks and is a die shrink?

Anyone planning to move to this? Decent upgrade from "Ryzen 1"?

April is what I heard. Its not much of a die shrink as GF 12NM is basically an improved 14NM,so that means slightly greater clockspeeds hopefully and improved IPC. The noise is that performance/watt has improved too. However,I would be surprised if overall performance jumps are more than 10% overall and if they are that would be bigger than normal.

Most sites i looked at say March......................that includes some Japanese sites that are more often than not correct.
Either way by this sort of time i would have expected to see a few benchies up on HWbot from testers...................nothing so far. Looks like AMD are playing this closer the chest than normal.
The optimist in me would like to regard this as a good thing and we are going to get a nice surprise.
The pessimist in me thinks the expected increases in clock and performance are much as predicted :D I'll still take them and upgrade anyway.

Ryzen 2 is Zen+ is Pinnacle Ridge. There's already 2 threads that have tonnes of info and discussion on the topic. Yes, there's perhaps not a specific one for the April release but... do we really need to fragment things further? :)

Zen 2 (code-name unknown) is the 2019 release.

Yes, there's perhaps not a specific one for the April release but...

But what? Since when did I have to seek your approval prior to starting a discussion?

If you're not interested in discussing a clearly very specific topic, then please don't try to suppress others from doing so.

This being a forum, I get to have as much say as you and speak my opinion as much as you.
You thought a 3rd topic where Ryzen would be discussed would be a _wonderful_ idea.
I figured it best left to the other 2 and said so. Handily, most of the other folks discussing the topic also seem to agree.

If you don't want to contribute to the conversation, then you're under no obligation to read the thread.

Please don't troll.

@String I see you already have 6 core cpu. Did you consider a change to AMD with the first wave of Ryzen?

I did, but lack of micro ATX options put me off and the memory compatibility issues were also a factor. I didn't feel there was a justifiable upgrade path there at the time. That's why I'm interested in Pinnacle Ridge as I'm interested in the improvements now that the architecture is starting to mature.
