Ryzen Prices Slashes Again?

I just saw the Ryzen 5 1400 for £110 at a major retailer too,but not sure if its another pricing error or not.

But Ryzen 5 1600 for £169.99 is the cheapest non-error price for the chip in the UK!

AMD are not to blame, they make it very clear to resellers about promotional activities, if a reseller messes up, its their own fault, not AMD's. Sometimes we forget to put prices up when a promotional activity ends by 24-48hr, but we just ship those customer orders out as we don't like having customers complain or have issues and when its our fault for not updating price in time, we take it on the chin and ship the customers order at a loss as the customer should not suffer for our error.

Of course if we priced say a £1200 laptop at £120 on site and 100 people ordered, that is different and can be seen as a genuine error at which point we'd cancel orders as no company can afford to lose a grand at a time over say 100 laptops, not a mistake we have made by the way, but an example.

I'm not saying its AMDs fault. I'm praising them for being this aggressive!

As for stock thing, not knowing how retailers work, I'd have thought there would be real time stock allocation?

@Gibbo I paid for a 1700X on a competitor site, admittedly I have never used them before and after today I will never use them again.

They took my cash and then removed the item from their site stating it's "Discontinued" which I think we can all agree is laughable.

Then stated the item was "out of stock"

I emailed them to say I was happy to wait for stock to appear, and subsequently they have cancelled my order and apparently issued a refund.

Moral of this story is many sites may seem to be cheaper but are generally so shady in business practices that they simply cannot be trusted :(

So now I'm back to square one with a mobo, ram, cooler and SSD and no CPU lol.

Will wait for you guys to do a promo and buy from OCUK

I had the same experience as SiDeards, It was probably the same company. Ordered the 1600, they took my money then e-mailed the next day saying the item was discontinued then later they canceled my order. Got to wait on a refund now also. Shame they are telling porkies and not honoring the sale.

Come on OCuk put it on a "today only" deal.....pwwwwwease :)

That could also depend on how good shop's systems are.

I mean there are shops, whose system doesn't earmark/reserve stocked parts until every part in order is in stock.
So people have had to wait weeks or even month+, because when one missing part arrived to stock, another part had run out of stock.

Exactly same happened to me absoloute disgrace

So found one for £169

What do you expect them to do if they have run out of stock? Only other option would be to offer a back order if people are willing to wait. That gets messy if it is a pricing error as well as new stock would be way more expensive.

Overclockers would probably just take the hit as Gibbo said above. I can see why others may not. We also conveniently have very competitive prices here as well so I guess there's another option for everyone.

I told the vendor i was more than happy to wait til they had stock, im not in a rush, but i was dismayed that they took my cash first, then gave me some spiel about it being *discontinued* then showed it out of stock, this is after i sent a webnote asking about stock and delivery and a CS rep said they would check for me. They actually changed the price yesterday back from £227 to £340 or whatever it was, and it showed as "In Stock" i wish i had taken a screenshot of it. Then in the morning i checked my Order and the link in the order took me to the product page but this time with the "discontinued" garbage, then later i get an email its "out of stock.

The whole thing was dishonest to be quite frank, if they had emailed me after i ordered it and said "Sorry product was listed with incorrect price" i'd have accepted it and taken the refund, but the fact they pretty much lied and tried to hide the truth shows they are a seller i will never ever trust or use again, first time buying from them, last time buying from them.

Although i did send them a message on Twitter and also to AMD_UK and AMDRyzen :) and i got a CS response there that they would look into it in the morning, i am not holding my breath to be honest.

The other place which had it seems to have kept up their end of their bargain and even had the Ryzen 5 earlier today for £136 for delivery in a week or so.

Same as above happened to me. Its annoying but I don't think its particularly "shady" as such, I had ordered 1600 for the 135 price. Would have been nice if they had honoured it as I would also have waited. :)

Not shady but they kept me waiting until 4.30pm and my memory had already shipped from somewhere else

So had to cancel and last minute order board and cpu from competitor who got my business

More annoyed the money was taken from my account I even rang to check I’d been allocated stock and they said yep no problem until the cancellation email came after

Probably won’t touch with barge pole again and I’m sure they have probably lost some other potential life long customers but hey ho such is life

Guys if I could improve our prices further I would, but you need to understand at present were selling at a loss, because AMD rebate us until 11th of this month. I have tweaked our pricing a little which pretty much means we break even (zero profit) in the hope you will also be purchasing other items from us as well with your order, if you have forum member free shipping and if you just buy the CPU alone, we will then actually lose money. As such I do request if you can order other stuff with your processor it would be appreciated. Don't forget when you order a Ryzen processor from OcUK you also get a FREE copy of Quake Champions, which maybe some of our competitors are not offering.

These slightly lower prices I shall put back up tomorrow, so act quick. :)

Good job Andy if only this had been last night I’d have bitten with you guys!!!!

Your pricing didn’t activate early enough for me
