Having No Search is a ******* pain in the **** 
I had 3 threads to start but cannot be ***** to look through a zillion threads to see if it woud be a repost or i could link it in another thread.
I s'pose the powers that be are happy that the server is no longer under such an extreme load but as a User i am ***** off

I uphold your view here - I really don't understand some of the mods' attitudes towards members here, most of whom are customers of OCUK. I've been admin on another forum for about three years [it's also an online store like OCUK] and whenever the regulars are rude or irritating I never have a go at them in public, just send them a PM telling them to sort themselves out.
But nothing will change here. If I speak out of turn too often my thread will get deleted with no warning or I'll get suspended [again]. I know that OCUK have no obligation to keep any forum member on but there are better ways of dealing with things.

I hope I'm not revealing any state secrets, but afaik it's a dual dual core xeon box, scsi raid and 5GB ram - fairly standard server setup.
We stopped pruning when the server was last upgraded so the db size has increased, at 3GB now searching and other intensive processes take so long that locks build up in the database and everything chokes.
I'm not sure if hardware upgrades alone will really solve the problem in the long term but all options are being looked at atm.
Or as some people have said, it's a P3 with a usb flash drive
