S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Lost Alpha

6.1GB!!

Anyway, moddb direct http links working fine for me. Got an hour ish to go.

I started the torrent off before I went to bed last night, but when I checked it this morning it had virtually ground to a halt with still over 10 hours remaining (it was only about 7 when I started!) so I think I might leave it for a couple of days to see if things improve at all.

Why not use the mega-upload??? I was done in about 20 mins.

Unfortunately we have a very slow broadband connection, around 2.5 Mb/s so any download takes quite a long time unfortunately.

That I why I tend to use torrents, I can just start one off, and then leave it to get on with it!

Seemed quite buggy to me< mouse cursor erratic at times, graphical glitches. Switching to DX10 forces Fraps to stop working in game... Then I couldn't even exit the front door at the start as it said it was locked... Lmao.

Uninstalled.

Do you have UAC disabled? If not, disable it.

In the options menu (game tab), do you have 'show character legs' turned off? As before, disable this option.

And don't forget to run the game as admin (though I expect you've done that).

Thanks for the info on game, downloaded the torrent and installing now. Says i need 16.1 gig of free space . Played a lot of stalker over the years so will get back with some screenshots and what i think in a few hrs.

Man i love blowouts, run screaming like a little girl to the nearest shelter :p

once you've downloaded the files, do you just extract and run setup from the first download?

when I try and launch the game I get an xray engine debug crash.

The workaround for the original SHOC install also woks with this game.
Before you install create a folder in your local disc C: call it what ever you want. Then install into this folder and not the windows program files folder (this resolves the UAC problems and allows for game saves to be made without windows interfering). when requested install the DX SDK also to this folder. Once everything has installed navigate within this folder and find the DX setup exe application and run it, this will install any missing dll files for DX10.1 which may be missing (it was a bit buggy after Microsoft released a wndows platform update after its release). Make sure all your graphics drivers and upto date and then everything should run with no problems.
I'm currently running this game at 4k on AMD 14.4 drivers with everything to maximum and have not had problem, everything looks and runs stunningly.

Yes. I extracted the first file to a location (I use desktop), then run the installer. The installation will take quite a while, so you might think that it isn't responding or something similar. Make sure you run it as admin / UAC disabled - see my above / below post.

Downloaded and running but it isn't saving any games?

Andi.

1. Make sure you run it as admin.

2. Disable UAC.

3. In the the 'game' tab within the options menu, turn off 'show character legs'.

If none of this works, then I would strongly suggest a clean install. It should then work fine.
