(s) win (e) flu.

So basically he installed some random drivers from an untrusted source? I think we can safely say he learned his lesson the hard way.

Sounds nasty though. A virus designed to napalm your computer rather than do anything cunning.

What a n00b. 20 years of IT experience my arse.

Haha, exactly.

I reinstalled Windows XP Pro and all my additions at least 20 times between 26/3/09 - 16/4/09 before I finally got online again. I know this as I can no longer activate my Microsoft software. I have exceeded the install number allowed for a retail version of the product.

I got to the point of throwing out USB keys and starting to install everything fresh, from fresh downloads.

"Throwing out USB keys"? 20 years experience? Really?

He's a MCP and MVP too, what a joke :p

Have to wonder why he felt he had to activate windows straight after every reinstall... pointless when you have a 30-day period which you could use to ensure everything's fine before activating. Still, he's been doing this for years, so must know better.

As many as you like. (on the same PC of course) It just means you will have to use phone activation. I don't believe this guy, it is very suspicious when he does not even know how MS activation works.
