Someone I know offered me an S2000 recently - not my usual fare - but I still can't help wondering about it.

It was an 05 car, in silver with full black leather, AC and the usual refinements. It had 4 new (OEM) alloys, 4 recent tires, full Honda service history and two year's Honda warranty, amongst other things.

I took it out for a quick spin and it was without fault unexpectedly - as it's only done 12,000 miles.

The price? They were looking for around 9750.....It seems a lot cheaper than the majority online (I've poked around in the usual places) but they are just looking for a trouble-free sale.

If I'm honest I don't have much interest in buying it but I was just interested in the price - whether it was a ridiculous bargain or not. I still have the contact details, mind - partly because someone I know was looking for one, hence the thread :D

I was rather taken with it though, which I wasn't expecting!

Sounds like a great price to me, just ask him if the geometry adjustment bolts are all free though as it's big money to sort out properly.

S2000 values went haywire last year when we went into the recession, but mainly because lots of total crap flooded the market. Personally for that price I would be giving it a go :-) you could get I'd say 11k in June if you got bored.

Seems like a pretty decent price to me. I would say "for the mileage" but you buy on condition and what work it's had done, mileage means very little.

Just had a quick gander on S2KI classified and there is a 53 plate 31k mileage going for 9k and a 2005 48k sold for ~10k recently.

Personally i'd snap that up in a flash, seems like a cracking deal and well below what you would expect to pay for a car of that age/mileage, was it a GT with the hardtop? You could buy and use that for a year and no doubt sell it for a profit.
