S24 ultra vs Pixel pro 9 for next phone? (or even s23 ultra?)

I guess i need to look at the s23 and s24. As s24 prices are waaaay higher than at its launch it may be between the s23u and pixel Pro 9

You won't notice the difference in everyday use outside of benchmark scores slightly faster loading games , check on YouTube speed test opening apps comparison with the pixel 8 pro

Efficiency of the chip isn't as good so battery life won't be as good but still should last you through the day

The problem is the Pixels heat up way too quickly and throttle hard. It's a known issue since forever because they cool the phones like crap.

Oh ok I thought it was the Tensor chip produced by Samsung just wasn't as good , normal use it still shouldn't throttle , unless it's benchmarking or maybe heavy video editing, gaming?

I think the S24 Ultra this year is a disappointment what with the grainy screen mine had it, & inconsistences with the camera plus a promised update for the camera to fix issues that to this date still hasn't materialized, I actually think going for a Pixel 9 would be a better choice you get a much better camera, & for day to day use you not notice any difference with the G4 compared to the Snapdragon Gen 3.

The camera update is just delayed I think

It's a running joke. The major update that's promising improvements that never materialise. It's the same sensor for generations now. If it could have been fixed it'd be done by now. No other decent flagship phone runs a 200MP main sensor.

It's just Samsung playing the numbers and marketing game.

Pixel 9 pro for me. I've been waiting for a top end small pixel since the 5. Currently running the 8 but missing the extra features

Must admit I never used the 200mp nor the 50, just the default one as those two were crap for low light

Agreed and as I said earlier in the thread, if I know I want to get the right photo I always have the Pixel with me , with moving subjects i.e. kids, pets , sport or low light the s24 ultra will mess it up nearly every time

It may be between the s23u and the pixel for me now.

The s24u looks virtually identical to the s24u pics I've seen.

May well come down to price. I'll get a refurbed s23u of I do go for that one.

Got to say I can definitely see the difference between the S21U I have and S23U in the side by sides. But S23U to S24U... Marginal.

I prefer the s24u out of those 2 from that video. I've always liked a slight over saturated image as if you're not viewing on amoled type screen it'll look really dull.

Didn't expect so many differences but overall they are quite similar.

I mainly take 1x/ultra wide shots outdoors.

Not keen on the AI stuff. I do think it's killing photography. And personally I'd never use it.
To me, if you're substituting a cloudy sky for a milky way sky, what's the point even taking the photo.
