Is anyone running cm10 on their s3?
I'm looking to root mine tomorrow and was wanting some feedback from people who have rooted theirs.
I've been on xda devs and had a look round there, but there are different variants of the s3 and was unsure which variant I should be looking at due to being in the uk
Anyone have a guide on root and cm10 install

Cheers

I don't have an S3 but your version is the international i believe, ie non LTE. I flashed both my S2 and current One X using CF Root and found it to be very straight forward. I don't use CM either but I'd check the nightly updates and look through the update notes on issues and fixes. In the end if you don't like it just move to another rom. Hopefully this will be of some use.

To be honest I'd say rooting any Android device is a good idea. Unlike jailbreaking an iOS device, where you are simply adding to the stick OS (and reducing performance in the process), with rooting and replacing firmware you are adding functionality and increasing performance at the same time.

I run CM10 on my device, and I must say, if you dislike TW and love stock Android, even though it is incomplete it is your best bet right now. Perfectly usable day to day, and performance will only get better.

The device model is i9300. Rooting guides are easily found on the XDA section, and instructions for installing ROMs are found in the threads for each ROM. It's worth reading everything before attempting anything, though the S3 and Samsung devices as a whole are extremely easy to root.

Rooting the S3 is a dream. I used the Galaxy S3 toolkit on XDA. Was rooted within a few minutes.

I've been running the CM10 night lies recently and they are pretty stable. A few bugs with the media stack but other than that work well. If you just want a stable working phone though I would recommend the stable CM9.1

I agree, but honestly, I'd just jump onto CM10. There are hardware composer issues in CM9 as well, meaning that YouTube was not working properly (for me at least, no matter the install, always full wipe and fresh). They probably won't get fixed as other than that, it is stable and works well. However, the bugs in CM10 are minor, to be honest. You probably won't see anythimg in normal use.

I'm about to follow this guide

What happens when jellybean is released, will it try and auto download and install it
