Hey guys.. I can't figure this out for the life of me. I've tried everything! Google, trial and error, swearing and cursing... I can't seem to get my Samsung 840 Pro SSD to boot quicker than when it was in my old mobo (Asus M5A97 LE R2.0).. Before, the windows logo colours wouldn't even be able to complete during boot.. Now it's taking a good 20+ seconds. I've tried everything i can think of (Making sure they sata ports are in AHCI mode, attempted to disable JMB Option ROM, Disabling fullscreen BIOS boot) nothing is working.. When i hook it up to my old mobo again, it's as fast as lightning! Any help here would be appreciated, otherwise i make myself bold by tearing my hair out.

P.S
My BIOS and SSD Firmware is completely upto date. I've tried using SAMSUNG SSD MAGICIAN. Ive set the config to performance in the bios. I've made sure all my sata cables are plugged into SATA 6Gb/s ports. I've made sure my SSD is the first in the boot order.

did you just move the install over or did you reinstall?

if you moved the install over go in to safe mode and remove as many items you can from device manager. make sure that the IDE Atapi controllers and most of System Devices are wiped out and reboot.

it may not make a difference but it has worked for me many MANY times.

if its a clean install then I'm stumped for ow.

Disconnect all items plugged into the usb ports and see if that helps boot time. If yes then add items individually and see which is affecting.

I Know its a long shot but hey ho

hmmm odd isnt it. I have just gone through the manual looking for shared resources etc but nothing there.

I am assuming that the CPU has been correctly detected in the BIOS and the speeds are OK. Can I also assume that you have cleared the CMOS settings just in case?

oh and are you running of the AMD controller or the AsMedia one?

I believe i'm using the AsMedia one, as i see that a lot in the bios, but i don't see an AMD controller anywhere in any options.. The CPU settings and itself are perfectly fine, no isses there. I have tried a cmos clear yeah :(

Again, thanks for this guys. I appreciate the joint effort

according to the manual there are 2 controllers. the upper ports are AMD (brown) and the last 2 (grey) nearest the bottom corner are ASMedia.

Ah yeah sorry, completely wrong area lol. I originally had the SSD into the top brown controller.. But moved it to the grey one after work earlier after reading something on google. I installed the AsMedia sata controller from the MB utility disc afterwards, to see if there was any change. It didn't make any difference

have you timed it best you can? 20seconds isn't bad tbh

some boards simply boot faster than others,it depends on each board

True.. But i'm pretty sure a £130 board (from the same brand ASUS) would still boot an SSD either roughly around the same speed, or quicker than a £55 mobo.. Not the other way around :P

But i have considered this, yes. The £55 board boots up quicker in every area :( BIOS Splash screen and during the windows splash screen

I've gone into the bios and compared them, there's nothing really different when it comes to settings.. But the Sabertooth does have several extra features that i can't compare.

Yeah i did.. I did make the error of installing in IDE when i bought my first SSD (Corsair Force Series 3).. Never again will i make that error lol. Replaced it with the Samsung and gave it my fiancé for her system.

ok so what is the actual boot time from POST completion?

just trying to get a gist of how slow we are talking about here. my Asus Z97 takes about 7 seconds to finish POST and then 8 secs to desktop which it pretty fast imho

From powering on, bios is 3 seconds. A couple of seconds of nothing, then 19 seconds of Windows is loading splash screen. In the other mobo, it's 2 seconds of bios, then 7 seconds of Windows is loading splash
