sabertooth p67 rev 3 problem - hdd drive not showing - advice needed

i have just got the asus sabertooth p67 rev 3 mobo and im having a problem with one of my hdd drives. I set them to ahci in the bios and the 1 I installed windows 7 x64 onto shows up fine when i click my computer, the other does not even though it is listed in device manager. Ive tried connecting to all the sata slots yet the samsung hdd drive still will not show when i click my computer for any of them. i hava a 900w psu and both hdds are getting sufficient power so im clueless as to what is the problem :(
 
Have you used this drive before or is it new?

It it's new then right click my computer, select manage, go into disk management, see if you drive is there, if it is right click on it and create a new volume.
 
Might be a silly question, but if after that it still doesn't show, then check you don't have the Win7 option enabled that hides empty disks.

Explorer -> Organize -> Folder and Search Options -> View -> uncheck Hide Empty Drives in the Computer folder
 
Yeah, if it's a new drive they all need initializing now, I had the problem with this before, hadn't installed a drive on windows 7 before, have installed loads prior to that and never had to do it...

If the drives already got data on though it should already be recognised by windows 7 and just pick it up straight away.
 
well its not a new drive, its from my old system and i never had any previous problems with it. i did however format it before putting it in the new rig, ill try doing what you guys suggest and update you on the progress... cheers

Make sure the drive is powering up. You should be able to feel the vibration.

Try connecting it to a different SATA port on the motherboard.

under disk management the samsung drive is missing from the top middle section, but beneath that it shows as the one that says disk 0. when i right click it i get 2 options, convert to dynamic disk and convert to gpt disk. there is also offline, properties and help i can click on
 
it doesnt work in any of the other satas, and its vibrating and my hdd led on top of the case is lit blue which means it is connected and powered

Disk 0 is the one with OS on I think.

All of your drives should show in that bottom section so if you had 2HDD's and 2DVD's there would be 4 entries.

disk 1 has windows 7 on it, that is my seagate 250gb drive and both partions are showing fine. my samsung drive i know is disk 0 because its shows that its 500gb which means it can only be that
 
i think its probably a fault with the drive, as all the sata slots work with the working seagate hdd... i dont know, its got me bamboosled as to what the problem is... oh well i was planning to get an ssd drive soon anyways

If you know Disk 0 is the Samsung then select convert to dynamic disk and see what happens.

You've got nothing to lose as there's no data on the drive.
 
Under your thing in disk management, it should have a greyed out section for the problem drive.

Not where it says Disk 0/1/2 etc.. to the right of that, it will say "Local Disk c:) Healthy partition and all that crap, thats the part you need to click on. (Obviously not on your C Drive though :) )

Sounds like your clicking where it says Disk 1 and 2 etc.

when you right hand click on that part, make a new simple volume, or format it, can't remember what the new drives show up as.
