Im thinking about getting the UD3 due to its better overclocking than the Sabertooth  .

Asus P6X58D-E seems to be very similar and equal to the ud3 overall.

Sabertooth is the newest of the 3 and has the coolest chipset but, I hear about a PCI slot being covered if you have a dual slot gpu.

Im not sure about the Sabertooth's asthetics :p as I do prefer the UD3 and the P6 colour schemes.

I am looking one for manily best overclocker but I can't decide on which board to get  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TBH, after reading this review for the AM3 870A Fusion I wouldn't put much trust in Overclock3D.net reviews.

In terms of overclocking using air cooling, the UD3, P6X58D-E and sabretooth overclock exactly as well as each other - because the overclock is limited by the cooling before any of these motherboards limit the OC. If you are overclocking using water cooling, I would go with the sabretooth due to the slightly better stock coolers and higher-grade components.

Yeah, that's true about the PCI slot being covered. That was a deal-breaker for me with that board. If you need a PCI slot, then you can eliminate the Sabertooth from the equation. Two to go.

Overclocking wise, all 3 seem to be very similar. The Sabertooth has the least power phase at 8, but as can be seen from the reviews, that didn't seem to be a bottleneck. I can imagine the luck of your specific motherboard being a good overclocker would have more impact than any of the three boards being different overclocking-wise by a general rule of thumb. I believe they're that close when it comes to air cooling. Maybe there's more room for differentiation when water cooling is thrown in the mix.

Out of the UD3R and P6X, I'd pick the Gigabyte because of the features. It has more SATA and USB ports. It has an IDE port (I still install my floppy drive when possible :)). It also has a USB power feature, where the front USB ports still get power when your computer is switch off, so you can still use them for charging peripherals. Erm, and I like the layout :).

When I get a SATA 3 ssd I'm going to get the msi x58 motherboard
Just another option

From what iv seen the sabertooth is'nt such a cool running board as is led to believe, or not that much better then the P6X58D-E.

Iv seen some people saying theres are high 50's, low 60's on the motherboard temp, ok they may have crap airflow in there case.

My P6X58D-E has never gone over 47c for the motherboard, even in the middle of summer, when i was testing for high clocks (circa 4.5ghz) so that was really pushing it. So don't just believe the sales terms and stuff, go by user experience, now im not knocking the sabertooth at all, its a very nice mobo.

If i was to be buying again right now, id still go for the P6X58D-E, as i feel its the better out of the 3 lower end boards, what i would advise is basically, get the one that is the cheapest at the time you are buying, all 3 will clock exactly the same.

Yeah, if you're finding it too tough to decide due to similarity, just go for the cheapest.
That Vortez review says the cooling on the UD3R is very good. And bifday2k said his P6X58D-E has very good cooling, so I guess that could be another stalemate..

In the review, the P6X58D-E overclocked much better.

Both boards have very good cooling but I found the ASUS board to perform better generally.

Bah! I have yet to order the Gigabyte, and you've just thrown a spanner in the works!

Though I've read it and it's a good review. For overclocking, Asus might be the better option if the boards are at the same price. Though what do you mean by the Asus being "generally better"?

In terms of performance, the ASUS performed marginally better. The difference is only very slight but given it overclocks better as well, it holds an advantage.

You can't really go wrong with either :).

The P6X58D-E has the best pwm power circuitry out of the 3, not by a lot but its better.

All 3 have usb3 and sata 3, aslong as all are in a well cooled case all 3 should run cool enough, and overclock to the same limits, as the cpu cooling will stop before the mobo does, saying that the P6X58D-E can reach the highest bclk.

As they are all in the same price range, get the cheapest when u go to buy basically.

Why I'm not personally going for asus is lack of esata, probably not an issue for most tho

i got Sabertooth and chipset (NB) is bloody hot - with 3.8 GHz OC and stock voltage for NB I'm getting 65 C in idle and 72 C in Load - all this with 40 mm fan on it.
Without the fan over 80 C in Load and 73 in Idle.

Which board you go for is pretty much a personal choice. I have seen folks decide against one board because they did not like the colour of the board. Seriously, I am not joking here. But based on what is offered and the performance of the board I would say that the Gigabyte UD3 is bang for buck the best X58 board right now.

I build quite a few systems and I have not had a single complaint about the performance of the Gigabyte motherboard. Easy to over-clock and easy to use. Rock solid.

Another vote for the Asus P6X58D-E. Best selection of PCI/E slots for me, and I like the lack of legacy rubbish that no-one uses.
