Hi guys

My Dad is looking into buying a laptop to replace his ageing desktop PC. We've been looking at a few variations and came across something he liked the look of, spec and price wise.
However when we looked further, we found there was exactly the same laptop being sold elsewhere with less RAM but a faster more up to date processor... all the other specs seemed to be identical.

One laptop had 4GB of RAM, and was running the Intel P6100 @ 2GHz, the other had 2GB of RAM, but was running the Intel i3 330 @ 2.13GHz. As I say, both are otherwise identical. The i3 is a bit more expensive but I'd like for anyone more knowledgeable on such things to explain which direction might be better to go.

I should just point out that my Dad doesn't use his PC for gaming, it's just browsing the net, watching DVDs and maybe some light multimedia, nothing fancy.

Cheers guys.

Definitely go with the i3, it'll be newer tech all round and with the current price of DDR3 being so low you'll be able to stick another 2gb in for about £15-20. Just make sure you find out what the current RAM spec/configuration is and how many free slots are availabe (hopefully it's a 2gb stick with 1 spare slot)
