Hi, just want to share with all of you. This morning, i received my guitar from the DPD courier. im so excited about it as i waited for too long for this guitar. It the Jackson DXMG with Floyd Rose Trem System and EMG pick up. as i open the package. i was so shock found that the guitar headstock broken. arghhhhh!!!!!

i phone the seller, and tell him about it, as refund is issued. Plus i skipped my morning class just to wait the courier to come as no one at home. i was thinking if anyone experiencing this before and manage to repair it.

Here are the photo I include for your view and please suggest anything to get the guitar good as new.. any guitar repair shop that you guys think can repair it? or its better DIY?

thanks for viewing this thread

I stuck half a headstock back on my acoustic with Titebond and it worked okay. But the guitar was cheap rubbish to start with.

Ouch! Should have a warning on those images to any guitar players that they may be disturbing....!

I can't see that being repaired very easily at all. I certainly wouldn't try it unless I were a total expert, super glue aint gonna cut it.

wow someones given that a good wallop at the depot!

did you sign before you opened it then? you should not have accepted that

or repair it for character

i signed it. sign or not sign, i still need to unless the packaging is transparent so could see it though. the seller did insured it with the the courier company. any money still holding at the Paypal. so i think it wont be a problem. it just, well, you know, when something that you didn't expect to happen, happened.

i couldn't even look the guitar, i put it under the bed..

Another "delivery companies are useless" thread ... isn't it about time the staff at the courier companies took some pride in their work?

Lucky for the OP it doesn't matter whether he signed for and accepted it or not. I heard on Radio 4 (I'm getting old) t'other day that there is no law agreeing to accept a package come what may by signing for it, the law was changed some time ago.

Out of interest was the box showing signs of damage? If not it might have been like that when it was posted.

Does the damage go onto the neck at all? Repair should be possible, but at worst it would mean getting rid of most of the headstock. I'd make a V-style cut around the truss rod channel and use titebond to fix a new one in place.

The damage is pretty minor tbh. I was expecting it to be the whole headstock that snapped off. With some decent epoxy you can just glue it straight back on. Go to a guitar shop and have their luthier do it for you if you're not confident to do it yourself.

The headstock will have to be sanded and refinished if you don't want a visable line across it.

This is probably the fault of the guy that sold it to you. You should always release string tension before transporting. If you don't, stuff like this happens. It's no surprise it's happened to the two thickest strings (which have the most tension).

i have been guilty of signing before opening in the past and didn't about the law change.. i had a 42" tv come a couple of weeks ago and didn't sign until the driver had helped me get it out of the box to inspect though i didn't quite go as far as to make him wait until i had set it up ;) thankfully all was fine

my brother worked at kays between summer at uni and he told me that some of the depot workers would literally boot packages about the place. cringeworthy some of the stuff (other peoples stuff being that point) that is mindlessly and disrespectfully treated.

If an item is carefully handled there is no need to package it in NASA spec cotton wool

Items should be handled as if they are eggs that are free to roll around in their box.

well you would moan even more if a parcel took 2 weeks to reach you or cost 4x as much to post.

accidents happen and this is what parcel insurance is for. do you think no one ever drops any eggs ?

this would a very hard work if i planned to repair it by myself as this is floyd tremolo system. not a normal bridge.
