safe temp for a 3800+ X2 skt 939

orthos had one of the cores up to 82c when clocked at 2.9ghz. Its says max thermal temp 72c... I say, rubbish!

Uve got loads of room to overclock!

whats a safe temp?

My CPU runs at 50degrees and stock speed? when running wow.

Would you say that i can o/c much?

On the limits already, you need to run each core at 100%. What CPU cooler are you using? My 4400x2 runs at 32 idle, 47 load, clocked to 2.7hz, 1.53v.

i think i know what akasa you're talking about, its practicaly a reference isnt it? I bought one because I couldnt find my reference cooler when i had to ditch my shuttle and sell it on, the heatsink+fan is only about £6 so its pretty duff really

how can I tell, or how can i calibrate it properly?

Don't think you can , your best bet would bve to power cycle the comp, having unplugged your power.

Also try the latest bios for your motherboard.

Try and get an external proble down there. If it's roughly what the PC is reporting then you know it's true.

Although that should work it's not the way artic silver recommend it. You're meant to use a rice size drop and squish it with the heatsink.

Thing is I wouldn't bother re-applying now. I'd order a new heat sink and do it then.

serious  thats hot

dont think it was that hot really, surely if it was then my comp would restart itself or at least give some errors in orthos. It wouldnt just burst into flames and still be in windows!
