As in the title i'm wondering what the safe temps to stay below would be when overclocking this card. I'm about to start using the ati overdrive utility to overclock it and let it run for a minute before cancelling and posting this thread.
The graphics processor status had only gotten to 547 when i stopped it but it was at a temp of 76C. I'll admit i panicked a little :p It just worries me a bit because whn gaming i've never seen the temp rising above 65C before and some of the games i play are pretty intensive.
Anyone know? If someone knows the rough temps that'll let me know whether to go back to clocking it or give up and leave it at stock :p

Cheers Zeph.

PS stock cooler on it... Powercolor X850xt 256mb

Just a thought, would i be better uninstalling CCC and using Ati Tray? I have it on the comp just not used it yet.

Never mind, all the info i could find was on the x800 and apparently the max temp it should be run at is 105C, i'd imagine the 850xt will be similar or higher as it has a better cooler as far as i can tell. Currently i now have the card set to 560/600 with ati tray. While it was trying to find the max for gpu and memory it was going above and beyond those figures, max i let it get to with gpu was 567 and 607 for the memory, simply because the temps were starting to reach 88C and i'm still wary about how high i should allow it.
Is this any good? Or not a great increase?

Oh and i uninstalled CCC to start using ati tray and it ended up freeing around 50mb of memory

Cheers,
Zeph.

Check your fan control at default the fan spin at only 5% until it reaches 90c. If you haven't changed this setting this would explain your temperature. I have adjusted my settings and getting readings of 68c under load running at 545/602 with stock cooler. Hope this helps

Erm the fan is really noisy at faster speeds, doubt i could put up with the noise at those you have.

Zeph.

I must admit it does my head in!! Must get an artic cooler when they are back in stock. But I really want to keep temperature down as much as possible till then.
