I just got a job and need to provide my own work boots (steel toes). Can anyone recommend a place to get black safety boots that are going to be comfortable, I'll be working 12 hours shifts so they have to be comfortable.

I had a pair from Italy for my apprenticeship but they are not black so can't really wear them as part of a uniform.

We can dance if we want to.
We can leave your friends behind.
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
then they're no friends of mine.

I hate myself

If they require you to wear safety shoes as part of their risk assessments/H & S policy then I believe they have to be provided for you.

I was given a pair of Magnums. Had them a little over a year now, very comfortable and hard wearing.

PPE has to be provided by your employer free to charge, however the boots they usually supply depending on your employer can vary from very good to poor.

I don't know if you are allowed wear rigger boots, if you are I would shoot for these they are very comfortable to wear and my feet spend 12 hours a day in them!

Dickies or DeWalt boots are pretty good too. Best to try your local supplier and try them on and see.

A decent pair of hiking socks helps loads too, waterproof socks are the business if your working outdoors.

Aye, the employer may provide them but they will likely be crap.

They also need to be black as part of the uniform or I'd wear the ones I already own :/

It's just refitting shops though so waterproof and the likes shouldn't be needed. What shops am I looking at for going in and trying them? I'm also only a size 6/7 shoe so it's not so easy.

I have been told that they will help me pay for boots and trousers however they are not included.

My start date is very soon so I want to get something ordered and worn in before my first 12 hour shift.
