Safety boots

I have the cheap Site steel toecap wellies for when it's proper wet, but some boots long wet grass has been enough to soak through somehow.

It's for traipsing through fields, forests and other outdoors areas.

Those that said about laces, I've had a pair of laces last three boots, each originial lace broke on the boots. I'm also used to putting in insoles to try and make them comfy.

Cheers all, will have a gander at each suggestion.

you can get steel toecap wellies.

personally i have a pair of sterling rigger boots that have kept my feet warm, dry and intact for the past 5 years.

i'd say go leather rather than goretex, never had luck with the more modern materials but good solid leather boots kept well coated in polish/dubbin/your waxy waterproof coating of choice is hard to beat.

you might want to consider, if your working circumstances suit, that a pair of lightweight, non-waterproof but very quick drying boots might also be worth considering.

I have some uvex ones, recommended by a colleague and best boots I have ever had. Most lasted me 6-12 months; 3 years on these are still fine.

DM boots based on sparks here are super comfy but rarely last more than a year,

Had some Earth works and sadly have to recommend everyone avoids them. Within a couple of weeks of use 8ish miles each day mon-fri getting to/from work where I have since been laid off :( and 8hours walking around a factory they began to fall to bits.

The soles started to detach from the uppers and had to glue each sole back myself. I'm no professional but I certainly did a better job than earth works and they held for another couple of months after that before one of them started to rip up on the right hand side. I cleaned/treated and polished the boots weekly and when I was laid off I gave them a good looking after. I decided today I would fix the part on the right hand side. Sadly as I raised it around 1cm to clean out the inside the rubbish material just tore with no pressure at all.

Will snap a pic shortly but I am very disappointed in the quality of those boots. Think I'm going to look for a better quality pair for my next job and just leave them in a locker on site and wear my altbergs to and from the site.

Generally you get what you pay for with boots - out of the cheaper stuff Amblers Steel are the only ones I've found don't fall apart after a few weeks but they are a bit marmite if people find them comfortable.

Absolutely and some are clearly better than others I mean my altbergs have been going for years now with much harder use than the boots pictured above. Yet they are still pretty much like new and fit like a glove. I would wear those to a work place but places I work usually tend to involve a lot of paint being splashed around and would be livid to get paint of them. Dirt I can handle but paint is a no go for me as just to much work to remedy.

Will take a look at amblers for when I get back to work.

I've been wearing Wolverine boots for several years now and really like them although they're quite expensive but don't mind as I'm on my feet all day. My current pair seemed to take a week or two to break in which I hadn't noticed with previous ones which had been comfortable out of the box.

Depends on the hazards.

Steel toe cap
Metatarsal protection
Steel mid sole
Ankle protection
Waterproof
Fireproof

See what I mean :p

Thats the truth. I've got a Doc Martens I've had for years its the soles that wear down to nothing before the uppers go. Steel toe cap work boots not the fashion ones.

Had a van roll over my toes once the guy I was with went white as a sheet on seeing it but I was fine thanks to the toe caps.

Cofra Gullveig S3 rigger boots. Comfiest boots I've owned, I thought the Jallette one's I had previsouy were good but these are even better.

@chaparral What happens to them, that they only last such a short time?
Think it because they always covered in water , mud , HYD & engine oil due to me being a mechanic on heavy plant machinery working outside plus am on my feet 11 hours a day (work 60hour per week)..

dewalt rigger boots last me about 3 months
