Hi Peeps,
My Gigabyte 7970 (top card in crossfire) is sagging quite a bit on one end. I have heard that Scythe Ninja wire is an option but I cant seem to find any UK suppliers. Now I realise you cant link to other sites but is it even available in the Uk? as I cant find it anywhere. As its the top card I cant use the support jack that some people recommend either

I bought mine from a competitor, but that was a few years ago.

If your case has cut outs for cable tidying above the top card, route your pci-e power cables down towards the card, plug them in and gently lift the top card up and tie up the cables to keep it tight.

I'm sure there's pictures in the 7970 AC Extreme thread.

Definitely was available - I bought some to hold up my Asus 7950 Top but that was a few months ago and having done a google it appears to be difficult to source as of today:(

In a feat of unsurpassed generosity I will reluctantly sell you mine - only £500 :D (Given scarcity seems fair to me)

I used my pci-e cables to support my accelero initially. However after some testing i found a bit of sag on the accelero knocked 1-2c off vrm temps as it was more in line with the airflow from my front 200mm fan.

EDIT

After a quick re-read of the above sentance i think i need to get a life. :o

I have the Asus z68 pro gen 3 board. Its not a faulty pci slot as this is common and my ref 7970, which is not as heavy, does not sag. Good idea about the pci e cables though I shall give that a go now!

Funnily enough Matt, I also found that nudging my cooler perfectly horizontal increased temps by 5c or so...

I then wondered what had happened to my life :o

Do you think this will damage it in the long term? my last board (gigabyte ud3r x58) had the same problem with crossfire 5850s.

A bit of sag will be ok, as long as its not too severe. As Petey said post a pic to give us an idea.

Off topic but there's no shame in a bit of sag lad. mavity will always win in the end. Its why i ended up buying myself a Ball Bra.

I'm confused. Do you have to curve the tape measure around them on the widthways measurement or just go straight across? I wouldn't want a badly fitting ballbra...

Ah forget it. I'll jerryrig a tangerine bag.
