Sainsburys

Just went to edit my order... leaving the £12 voucher... then the system tells me the £12 voucher has expired. :(

Same here. Screw 'em.

Would have been the first time Sainsbury's ever got any of my money, guess that ain't gonna happen for a long time now. :p

I love how everybody gets upset when something that is explicitly stated in the T&C is actually acted upon. :D

It's only annoying in that some people got their orders, and others haven't. If it was one rule for all, there wouldn't be a problem but the disparity is what would annoy me.

I'm not upset, bit dissapointed as there was the prospect of cheap booze, but I did expect it to turn out this way.

That's fine then. I never expected to receive my order either. I was pleasantly surprised when it turned up.

from this page

"Other online shopping glitches have included Kodak's offer of a digital camera for £100 - instead of £329 - in 2002.

Kodak tried to argue the price was a mistake, but backed down after disgruntled customers threatened legal action. "

we remember that one well around these parts :D
the thing i dont understand, pricing errors occur and if the price is wrong they do not have to sell it at advertised price.

so firstly they said no, then consumers threatened legal action but kodak would have won! so im confused to see why they backed down.

and also they are a multi million(perhaps billion) dollar firm so they could easily afford the legal costs

how did you manage that , the £12 voucher has a minimum spend of £60

When you go to amend your order and you click "Checkout" the previous £12 off code says it is expired. Phone up customer services and tell them the email said they would honour one code and that has expired, give them the £12 off code and they email you with a new one :)

When the orders were placed with Kodak a confirmation email was received, the legal issues arose because the email referred to "this contract" , thus the contract was deemed to have been formed and the offer of payment accepted

Well happy to say that my order came through this afternoon fully discounted, full of booze :D Sainsburys must be in the giving spirt as i seem to have a free 2Lt bottle of evian water as well

fair enough, that makes sense then.
but still are confirmation emails contracts? i wonder what the legal stand point is on that.... but thats for another thread

BACK TO CHEAP BOOZE! :D

hahah a lad on a forum i post on sent this in reply to sainsburys email...

So in response I have emailed Sainsbury's the following;

"Please delete my account. As a loyal customer I decided to try your online sevice with the incentive of these vouchers. I am angry and disapointed that I have been caught up in an email scam (more than likley a publicity stunt by yourselves).

I will never use Sainsbury's again both in store and online. I trust this is "pukka" with you.

Regards,"

Apparently Sainsbury's have had 16,000 orders.

16000 x £60 = £ 960,000.00

16000 x £22 = £ 352,000.00

That's a bit of a hit !

That is spread out across the nation though, so individual stores will have had a lot less. Also that is total revenue, not profit, and not everyone spent the absolute minimum.

A friend of mine who works in asda said they can take in £1m in a day especialy during christmas, and thats just in one store.

I also got the email. Gonna see if the order gets cancelled later, and if it does I will write them a drunken email :)
