Hi guys,

Looking to buy the Saitek Eclipse II keyboard 'ere :)

but I have read on the tinternet that it has problems using any of the cursor keys and any other key at the same time!

Can anyone who uses this k/b confirm if this is still true of the current batches?

Thanks :)

My 'next track' key is really stiff. P****** me off a bit, but it's not worth sending back for.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for replying, Do you use your keyboard cursors for gaming by any chance? As thats what i need to find out before I splash the cash :)

i have one and have never had a problem with multi key presses, although i'm a wsad gamer.

the only thing i will coment on is the keys are quite a light press and are not as good for driving games like nfs pro street as say a g15

Thanks for the feedback :)

If you get time could you check if the cursors work as a multipress?

Can I ask how the key presses affect the NFS type games? Is it cos you normally hammer harder on the keys when driving etc?

Thanks :)

for example in the drag races where you have to 'heat your tyres' you have to vary the throttle, on the saitek it was either ON of OFF and it was difficult to guage the requred timing.

the g15 is a much firmer and smoother press so was easier to vary the throttle and in the main game feather the steering.

at the moment i can't check for you as main pc is in bits after doing some hardware testing the other day. sorry about that.

I dont think so badbob, you'll notice in a game i would imagine.

Apparantly multi key presses where a problem all over on the original Saitek but the new II design rid most of it but it seems that the cursors are still subject to the design error! You'd thought knowing about this and being a gamers keyboard they'd sort it out! I have heard though that its not just a problem with Saitek, others have it too!

Ahh, I see what you mean now  Thanks for that, it gives me a bit of extra info.

I may have to convince myself to spend a bit extra and get something like the G15? :)

unless you play a lot of racing games the g15 is just too much money imho.

i'd but the eclipse and learn to use wsad, spend the extra £40 on something else!

I got an Eclipse 2 for christmas and its been fine. I am no expert gamer, but I use the cursor keys for the Splinter Cell Games, Crysis and Thief 3. I have not noticed any problems. Its been far more reliable for gaming than my Microsoft Wireless that it replaced.

Had an original Eclipse for 18 months now, haven't noticed these issues and I play COD4 and UT religiously. You'd have thought id have noticed... (btw I'm a lefty and use the DPad for strafe.)

I have the eclipse II.

I actually noticed it the other day, i think i was trying to press 4 keys for something, pressed em at the same time and failed.

My Old Dell keyboard used to crap out at 3 though.

I really like the keyboard, looks nice, responds well, colour is invaluable for night time gaming, i would reccomend it.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, it seems that they may have solved the issues then?

I think i'll give the eclipse a go then as it seems a lovely k/b :)

Thanks again :)

Dunno about Saitek, their stuff just looks cheap and tacky. With all the silver cyborg stylings, but haven't tried one personally, just don't like the look.
