Saitek Eclipse or Logitech G11

My son is after a gaming keyboard, and has narrowed it down to either the Logitech G11 or the Saitek Eclipse 2.

I know nothing about gaming keyboards, so in your opinions which of them should I go for? Is there much of a difference?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Ta.

Oh and the Saitek Eclipse 3 is out now, just came out last week, have a look at that on the main site looks nice.

I think the Eclipse 3 will be my choice, but would have chose the G11 if i had room for it.

I have the logitech G15 keyboard rev 1 so its exactly like the G11 but with the LCD screen, and tbh I love this keyboard I don't think I would use any other keyboard. The macro keys are really very useful gaming or non gaming. Also if your son plays MMOs its even better.

imo the saitek i've had the first and now 2nd revision awesome keyboards

Just looked at that eclipse3, i'm not a fan of that tbh it's over complicated which was one of the beauties about the earlier eclipse keyboards, they are simple and effective. If you are likely to use all the macro's/shortcuts etc then fair enough otherwise i think it's just people fiddling.

Got both myself and currently using the saitek. The Logitech is nicer really but its just that bit bigger it doesnt fit properly on my keyboard shelf

With the Logitech each key is lit on its own whereas with the saitek its just a general backlight that leaks from between the keys too.

Logitech also has a switch to turn off the windows key down near the spcae bar which is an annoying one on the saitek (and all other keyboards) as if you hit it during a game it takes you to desktop.

I would suggest the Eclipse 3 in all honestly.

The Eclipse 3 has some great features, touch sensitive panel - looks and feels great, reminds me of the touch panels on the Starship Enterprise (I'm not a trekkie - honest).

The custom function keys are unique on the side of the k/b.

And the option of 3 colours.
